Body paint polishing

Note. Do not store the car under a rubber cover and do not place rubber objects on the painted surfaces of the body: they leave on the paintwork (especially light) dark spots that are not removed by polishing.

To preserve the appearance of the body and keep it in good condition for a long time, it is necessary to periodically polish the paintwork of the body. Choose polishing agents in accordance with the condition of the coating, strictly follow the recommendations for their use.

For the first 2-3 months of vehicle operation, wash the bodywork with cold water. For polishing a new coating (up to 3 years) use non-abrasive polishes for new coatings.

When using a car for 3 to 5 years, use car polishes for weathered coatings containing a small amount of abrasive substances. After 5 years of intensive use, use car polishes for old coatings.

To prevent the polish from drying out, work the body with clean flannel by hand in small areas.

To eliminate minor defects in the paintwork, you can use polishing pastes PMA-1 or PMA-2. Polishing can be done manually or mechanically with flannel or zigek wheels.

Stir the paste before use, dilute it with water when thickened. After polishing, wipe the surface with a clean flannel.

Small chips and scratches that do not violate the soil layer, paint over with a thin brush. If the soil layer is broken, clean the damaged area with fine-grained sandpaper, removing traces of corrosion. Cover the cleaned area with a layer of soil (from a paint sprayer, aerosol can or brush). When the primer is completely dry, paint over the damaged area with enamel.

If bitumen gets on the car's paintwork, remove it immediately with mineral spirits or an auto bitumen stain cleaner. Bitumen causes yellow spots, especially noticeable on light paintwork.

At least once every two years, it must be treated with a preservative such as «Movil» hidden cavities of the body and apply anti-corrosion mastic to the surface of the wheel arches and the bottom. We recommend that these works be carried out at a service station.
