Rear suspension design features

Rear suspension (pic. 7.2) semi-dependent, lever-spring with trailing arms, hinged on the car body and interconnected by a U-shaped cross-section beam. The trailing arms are connected to the body with silent blocks. Suspension springs with variable stiffness (barrel-shaped). The upper and lower ends of the springs rest on elastic rubber pads.

Pic. 7.2. Rear suspension: 1 – a support of a shock-absorber of a back suspension bracket; 2 – compression buffer; 3 - rear suspension shock absorber; 4 – laying of a spring of a back suspension bracket; 5 - rear suspension spring; 6 - silent block; 7 - rear suspension beam

A torsion-type anti-roll bar is installed in the suspension beam.

The lower ends of double-acting telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers are bolted to the suspension arms. The upper ends of the shock absorbers are attached to the body through rubber pads.

The rear wheel hubs, made in one piece with the brake drums, are mounted on two tapered roller bearings.

The rear wheel alignment angles are predetermined by design and are not adjustable in operation. It is only possible to control the condition of the rear suspension at the installation angles (see «Checking and adjusting wheel alignment»).
