- deterioration in smoothness of movement, frequent «breakdowns» pendants;
- visible distortion of the rear of the car or a significant difference in height between the front and rear that occurred during operation;
- strongly pronounced traces of the collision of the coils of the spring.
Note. Replace springs as a set (left and right at the same time).
You will need a spring compressor.
Note. It is more convenient to perform work on a lift.
1. Install wheel chocks under the front wheels («shoes») and hang out the rear suspension beam.
2. Install a jack and lightly jack up the rear beam to relieve the shock absorber lower mounting bolt.
3. Holding the bolt from turning, unscrew the nut with the second wrench..
4.... remove the bolt and remove the shock absorber eye from the lower mounting bracket.
Attention! Do not move the shock absorber to the side more than necessary for operation, in order to avoid bending the rod.
Attention! Do not disconnect both lower shock absorber mounts from the rear suspension beam at the same time.
5. Gently lower the jack to unload the spring..
6.... and remove the spring.
Note. As a rule, the length of the brake hose is long enough so that it does not tighten when the spring is removed, but if you see that the hose is stretched, disconnect it while replacing the spring, so as not to damage (see «Replacement of brake hoses»), or use a spring tensioner.
7. Remove the top spring pad..
8.... and remove the bottom gasket from the platform on the rear suspension beam.
Attention! Replace damaged spring gaskets with new ones.
9. Establish a spring with linings on the car in an order, the return to removal. Replace the second spring in the same way.
Note. Install the spring so that the end of its extreme coil rests on the protrusion of the upper spring gasket.
