General information about the car Ford Fusion

Ford Fusion small car (class B according to international classification) released since June 2002. Ford Fusion has good visibility, maneuverability, large interior space with a multifunctional interior (the front passenger seat folds down into a table and there is a storage box under the seat cushion).

Ford Fusion cars are available in three trim levels:

• basic configuration Core - front airbags for the driver and passenger, side airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution (EBD), front fog lights, immobilizer (passive anti-theft system PATS), height adjustable driver's seat, tilt steering column, hydraulic power steering, body-colored bumpers, black protective inserts and side moldings, rear seats with folding backrests and cushions, outside rear-view mirrors manually adjustable from the passenger compartment, luggage compartment lighting, tachometer, 15-inch steel wheels, radio preparation;
• Trend equipment (addition to Core) – front power windows, remote central locking, exterior mirrors with electric and electric heating, painted in body color, audio system with radio and CD player, leather-trimmed steering wheel, interior lighting soft-off function, possibility of folding the front passenger backrest seats, remote unlocking of the tailgate lock from the passenger compartment, interior door lock handles with brushed aluminum finish;
• Elegance equipment (addition to Trend) - air conditioning, remote control of the audio system from the control panel under the steering wheel, individual lighting for the driver and front passenger, leather-trimmed gear lever knob, brushed aluminum gear lever boot frame, chrome grille surround, exterior door handles in body color, matt silver steering wheel trim, armrest.

Ford Fusion cars are equipped with four-cylinder 16-valve gasoline engines located across the engine compartment (1.2, 1.4, 1.6 Duratec) or diesel engines (1.4, 1.6 Duratorq).

To comply with environmental standards for Euro-4 toxicity, the exhaust system is equipped with a collector (catalytic converter, structurally made in one block with the exhaust manifold). Additionally, to reduce the toxicity of exhaust gases, the engine is equipped with an exhaust gas recirculation system.

The body type is a five-door station wagon, load-bearing, all-metal, welded construction with hinged front fenders, hood and doors. Windshield, rear side and tailgate glass glued. The driver's and front passenger's seats are adjustable in the longitudinal direction and in the angle of inclination of the backrest and are equipped with head restraints. Additionally, the driver's seat is equipped with cushion height adjustment. The backrest of the rear seat can be folded forward in parts in a ratio of 3:2.

The transmission is made according to the front-wheel drive scheme with drives equipped with constant velocity joints. Vehicles are fitted as standard with a Durashift five-speed manual transmission or an upgraded Durashift EST five-speed manual transmission with no-clutch sequential manual shifting, with a 1.4-liter petrol engine or a four-speed automatic transmission for engines 1.6 l.

MacPherson type front suspension, independent, spring, with anti-roll bar, with hydraulic shock absorber struts. The rear suspension is semi-independent, spring, with hydraulic shock absorbers.


The brake mechanisms of the front wheels are disc, with a floating caliper, the rear wheels are drum brakes, with a device for automatically adjusting the gaps between the brake shoes and drums. The brake system is equipped with a vacuum booster and anti-lock brake system (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution (EBD).

The steering is safety, with a rack-and-pinion steering mechanism and a hydraulic booster. Frontal airbags are installed in the steering wheel hub and on the right side of the instrument panel above the glove box, side airbags are installed in the backs of the front seats. Additionally, air curtains are installed above the side windows in the upholstery panels. The presence of airbags in the car informs the inscription in the places of their installation (AIRBAG).

Some of the produced cars are equipped with electric front door windows.

Cars are equipped with inertial seat belts for the driver and all passengers. Additionally, the driver and front passenger seat belts are equipped with belt tensioners.
