Replacing the front brake pads

Attention! It is recommended that all front brake pads be replaced at the same time if at least one of them is worn to a minimum thickness.

1. Loosen the front wheel nuts.

2. Raise and fix the front of the car, remove the front wheels.



3. Carefully pry with a screwdriver and remove the bracket (arrow) brake caliper mountings.



4. Using a 7 mm Allen key, unscrew the two guide pins (arrow) caliper.


5. Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor wire connectors.

6. Disconnect the caliper from the holder and hang it to the body with a wire (without unscrewing the brake hose connection).

7. Remove the inner brake shoe from the caliper and the outer brake shoe from the guide shoes.

8. Carefully press the piston into the caliper using a suitable wooden rod, being careful not to damage the flexible piston casing. If necessary, you can first remove a little brake fluid from the reservoir.

9. Check the condition of the brake disc and the elastic piston casing.


10. Install the inner brake pad (arrow left) into the caliper and push the spring into the piston (right arrow) inner pad.

11. Install the outer brake pad into the caliper guide.

12. Install the caliper in the guide and screw in the two caliper guide pins, tightening them to a torque of 20 Nm.

13. Install the brake caliper bracket in the appropriate location.

14. In the same way, replace the brake pads in the second front brake.

15. Install the wheels, lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel nuts.

16. Press the brake pedal hard several times to bring the brake pads into contact with the brake disc.

17. If necessary, top up the amount of brake fluid in the reservoir.
