Steering
Withdrawal
1. Set the steering wheel to the straight ahead position.
2. Unscrew the bolt of the clamping collar of the flexible joint flange and disconnect the steering wheel shaft from the steering gear.
3. Raise the vehicle and remove the front wheels.
4. Remove the cotter pins and unscrew the castellated nuts of the tie rod ball joints.
5. Detach tie rods from steering knuckles using puller 13.006.
6. Unscrew the two bolts securing the steering gear housing to the body cross member and remove the steering gear.
Installation
1. Set rack to forward position (half the angle of rotation of the gear rack of the transmission, necessary to move the rack from one extreme position to another).
2. Connect the transmission drive gear to the flange of the steering wheel shaft elastic joint, observing the correct installation of both elements to be connected.
3. Install the steering gear in the appropriate place and tighten the two bolts securing the steering gear housing to the body cross member.
4. Attach the ball joints of both tie rods to the steering knuckles of the wheels.
5. Tighten all screw connections to the appropriate torque.
6. Install both front wheels and lower the vehicle.
7. Check and, if necessary, adjust the camber/toe-in.
