Glow plugs — check

Glow plug with burnt tip

To check the glow plugs, disconnect the power rail from the glow plugs. Connect test lamp (any 12V light bulb) one terminal to the positive pole of the battery, and the other to the spark plug under test installed on the engine. If the light is on, the spark plug is good. If the bulb does not light up, the spark plug is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Burning and failure of the glow plugs are often the result of a malfunction of the injectors. If there is a burnt candle, then a simple replacement is not enough. It is necessary to check the nozzles, including determining the shape of the spray cone, the response pressure and tightness. It is important that the injector has a clear cut-off of fuel.
