1. Check the flatness of the surface of the cylinder head mating with the cylinder block using a steel ruler and a set of measuring probes. If the flatness is greater than 0.05 mm, the cylinder head must be replaced.
2. Check the condition and diameter of the camshaft bearings. If the diameter exceeds the size limit, the cylinder head must be replaced.
3. Check the condition of the journals and cams of the camshafts.
4. Check the condition of the working surfaces of the hydraulic valve lifters. With their significant wear during operation, there is a characteristic noise in the upper part of the engine.
5. Check the condition and diameter of the sockets for the hydraulic valve lifters. If the diameter of the sockets exceeds the limit size, the cylinder head must be replaced.
