DOHC Engine Oil Pump Check
Checking the radial clearance between the gears.
Checking the radial clearance between the rotor and the pump housing.
Checking the axial clearance.
1. Unscrew the two mounting bolts and remove the pump cover.
2. Using a ruler and feeler gauge, measure the gap between the plane of the pump housing and the planes of the rotors. If it exceeds the maximum allowable value, the pump housing must be replaced.
3. Use a feeler gauge to check the clearance between the outer and inner rotors of the pump.
4. Use a feeler gauge to check the clearance between the outer rotor and the pump housing. If it exceeds the maximum allowable value, the pump housing must be replaced.
5. Remove the rotors from the pump and check their condition.
6. Unscrew the pressure relief valve plug in the cover and remove the washer, spring and plunger.
7. When assembling, lubricate the rotors with engine oil and install them in the pump housing so that the marks (indicated by arrows) on the rotors were combined.
