1. Lubricate the valve guides with fresh engine oil.
2. Insert the valve into place.
3. Install the lower spring plate onto the valve.
4. Wrap the cracker grooves in the upper part of the valve with a piece of adhesive tape to protect the sealing edges of the valve stem seals from damage when they are installed.
5. Lubricate the oil seal with fresh engine oil and, using a pipe mandrel, install on the valve guide.
6. Remove adhesive tape from valve stem.
7. Repeat this operation for the remaining valves.
8. Install springs and upper spring plates.
9. While maintaining the valve in the closed position with a special tool, compress the valve springs and install the valve cotters.
10. Reinstall hydraulic valve lifters.
11. Install the intake manifold and exhaust manifold.
