Starting the engine after a major overhaul

            0

1. After installing the engine in the car, check the oil and coolant levels.

2. Remove the spark plugs and turn off the ignition system.

3. Crank the engine with the starter until the emergency oil pressure lamp goes out.

4. Screw in the spark plugs and connect the ignition system.

5. Start the engine and check the tightness of all systems. Engine smoke is normal, as the oil that got on the parts during engine assembly burns out.

6. The sound of hydraulic valve lifters will be heard for some time until they are completely filled with oil.

7. Check ignition timing and idle speed.

8. After a few minutes of engine operation, recheck the oil and coolant levels.

9. If new pistons, rings, or crankshaft liners have been fitted to the engine, the engine must be treated as new and run in, followed by a change of engine oil and filter.
