Intake manifold tightening sequence

1. Lubricate the valve tappets with clean engine oil and insert them into the cylinder block. Make sure that they are installed in their original places.

2. Check that the mating surfaces of the cylinder block and cylinder heads are clean.

3. Install new cylinder head gaskets to the guide bushings on the cylinder block. Ensure the correct position of the gaskets. The left and right pads are different. The pads are labeled "FRONT TOP" ("front top side").

4. Carefully lower cylinder heads onto cylinder block and secure with bolts.

5. Tighten the bolts in three steps, in sequence, to the tightening torques given in subsection 3.3.1.

6. Lubricate the push rods with engine oil and insert them into the cylinder block.

7. Install the oil shields on the cylinder heads and install the valve rocker shafts as an assembly.

8. Insert the valve lever adjusting screws into the push rod sockets.

9. Gradually tighten the fixing bolts of the valve rocker shafts to the appropriate tightening torque.

10. Lubricate the outer edge of the contact surface of the cylinder heads and the contact surface of the intake manifold with sealant to install the gasket.

11. Install a new intake manifold gasket and install the intake manifold.

12. Install the intake manifold mounting bolts and tighten them in four steps to the correct torque in sequence.
