Checking the oil level in the gearbox

Oil level gauge in automatic transmission

Checking the oil level should be carried out immediately after stopping the car, when the oil is warmed up to normal operating temperature (around 65°С).

1. Park the vehicle on a level, level and firm surface, tighten the handbrake lever and depress the brake pedal.

2. With the engine idling, set the gear lever three times in sequence to all positions.

3. Set the gear lever to the position "R" and wait 1 minute.

4. While the engine is idling, remove the oil level indicator in the gearbox, wipe it clean with a dry cloth that does not leave threads, insert the indicator all the way into the crankcase hole and remove it again. The trace of oil should be between the dashes "min" And "max".

5. If necessary, replenish the amount of oil by adding it through the level indicator hole in the crankcase.

Attention! If the oil level is below the mark "min", you should check the tightness of the oil cooler and gearbox. Dark, and even worse black, the color of the oil indicates significant wear on the brake bands or clutch discs of an automatic transmission. It should be washed or inspected at a service station.
