Kick-down Cable Adjustment Items on Vehicles with Solenoid Valve

A - solenoid valve, B - housing, C - holder, D - fastening bolt, E - ball pin of cable connection

1. Set the gear selector to any position, turn on the ignition (without starting the engine), fully depress the accelerator pedal and lock it in this position.

2. Turn the downshift lever 5 counterclockwise until it stops and install template 17.031 on the cable to prevent cable overtension.

3. Loosen the bolts 4 of the solenoid valve bracket and move the solenoid valve forward until the shift cable is slightly taut, then tighten the bolts.

4. If the adjustment is made correctly, the solenoid valve, when voltage is applied to it, should pull the cable and, turning the shift lever 5 clockwise until it stops, hold it in this position.

5. If the shift cable is overstretched, the solenoid valve is not set to the required position, which causes the shift lever to return to its original position.

6. In case of insufficient tension of the shift cable, the shift lever is set to the desired position, however, the solenoid valve overheats, which leads to the return of the lever to its original position.

7. In both cases, it is necessary to re-adjust.
