Removal and installation of a cover of a luggage compartment (Scorpio I)

Model with a pronounced angle between the tailgate glass and the luggage compartment.

Withdrawal

Disconnect ground wire (-) battery.

Caution: Disconnecting the battery will erase the contents of the electronic memories, such as engine trouble codes or radio codes. Before switching off, also read the instructions in chapter "Removing and installing the battery".

Open the luggage compartment lid.

Mark the mounting position of the hinges. To do this, circle the hinges on the lid with a felt-tip pen.

Remove trim from luggage compartment lid.

Disconnect the wires from the locking magnet, the central locking system and disconnect the multi-pin connector from the luggage compartment security system. To facilitate subsequent assembly, pre-mark the wires with adhesive tape.

Tie a strong cord securely to the end of each wiring harness and pull the wiring harnesses out of the trunk lid like this. to keep the lines visible.

Untie the cords from the wiring harnesses. The cords must remain in the luggage compartment lid to facilitate its subsequent installation.

Support the lid with a suitable board or wooden stand.



Unscrew bolts -arrows- for hinges and remove luggage compartment lid. An assistant is required to perform the operation. Before loosening the hinge bolts, place a cloth between the cover and the rear window pane as a protection.

Installation

Together with an assistant, place the luggage compartment lid in the installation position and align, screw in the mounting bolts and tighten them by hand.

Align the cover at the hinges in accordance with the marked marks and tighten the fastening bolts to a torque of 10 Nm.

Tie the cords in the cover to the wiring harnesses and carefully pull the harnesses through the cover.

Caution: It is possible that the wire harnesses will hang when retracted into the cover. In this case, pull the wiring harness back a little and try to pull it through the cover again. If, despite this, the wiring harness cannot be pulled out, pull it out of the cover again and attach the plug to the wiring harness or cord with adhesive tape.

Install the luggage compartment lid trim.

Close the rear lid carefully and check that the gap between the lid and adjacent parts is equal and even. If necessary, slightly loosen the cover fixing bolts and move the cover accordingly.

Connect ground wire (-) battery.

If available, set the clock and enter the anti-theft code for the radio.
