Wires that need to be laid when installing accessories in addition to the wires fitted as standard in the vehicle must, if possible, always be routed along the existing harnesses, using the existing cable ties and rubber grommets.
If required, to prevent noise during the trip and avoid chafing, newly laid wires must be additionally secured with insulating tape, polymer mass, tape clamps for fastening wires, etc. At the same time, special attention must be paid to ensuring that there is a distance of at least 10 mm between the brake system pipelines and the newly fixed wires, and that there is a distance of at least 25 mm between the brake system pipelines and wires that swing with the engine or with other parts of the car. mm.
After drilling holes in the body, the edges of the holes should be deburred, primed and varnished. Chips that inevitably form during drilling must be removed from the body without residue. When installing additional accessories. that affect the electrical wire system, in order to prevent a short circuit, it is necessary to disconnect the ground wire (-) from the battery and hang it aside.
Attention: If the battery is disconnected, the fault code memory of the engine and transmission control system, the anti-lock system, as well as other electrical devices, such as radio and clock, cease to function; the codes of malfunctions which were available in the storage device are correspondingly erased. Specific guidance on this topic is provided in chapter "Removing and installing the battery".
Before installing additional devices that consume electricity, it is necessary to check whether the existing alternator can handle the increased load. If necessary, the installation of a high power generator should be provided.
