Safety precautions when working with an alternator

When working on the electrical system in the engine compartment, be sure to disconnect the ground wire (-) battery.

Attention: This erases the contents of electronic memory devices such as the engine fault code memory or the radio memory. Therefore, before disconnecting the battery, be sure to read the instructions in chapter "Removing and installing the battery".

Do not interchange the wires of the relay-regulator and the generator.

Do not disconnect the battery or the relay-regulator while the engine is running.

Never start the engine without the battery.

Do not remove the alternator with the battery connected.

Before performing electric welding work, the battery must be disconnected.
