Shift the transmission to neutral and, on vehicles with automatic transmission, move the operating mode selector to position N.

Turn on the emergency light signaling for the towing and towed vehicles.

Since the brake booster only works when the engine is running, the brake pedal must be pressed harder on vehicles with the engine not running!

On vehicles with py-left power steering, more force is also required to turn the steering wheel when the engine is off, because the power steering is not working.

Tow the car only forward (in the direction of travel).

The tow rope or tow bar must be installed in such a way that the towing eyes are not loaded with lateral forces.

The tow rope must be flexible. to have a gentle effect on both towing and towed vehicles. Only use a rope made of synthetic material or with an elastic intermediate link. It is safer to use a tow bar.

Features of towing a car with an automatic transmission

Maximum towing speed: 50 km/h!

Maximum towing distance: 50 km!

With a longer towing distance, the rear wheels of the car must be raised.

If there is no oil in the gearbox, the vehicle can only be towed with the drive wheels raised.

When using a towing vehicle, the vehicle must only be towed backwards (with rear wheels up). With a car raised only from the front, the rear wheels must be mounted on a wheeled bogie.

Vehicles with all-wheel drive when towing over longer distances are recommended to be transported by special tow trucks.
