Engine
Engine: change oil, change oil filter.
Diesel engine: remove water from the fuel filter.
Cooling and heating systems: check fluid level, check antifreeze concentration. Visual check of tightness and external contamination of the radiator.
Exhaust system: Check for damage.
Engine: visual inspection of the lubrication system for leaks.
V-belt: check tension and condition of all belts, adjust if necessary
Perform exhaust gas content check (idle speed check, pollutant emission check, fault code memory interrogation) - at the service station.
* ONS engine: Retighten the intake manifold with the prescribed torque.
* Adjust valve clearances (not required for DOHC engines and all engines built since 9/94).
* V6 engine up to 8/94: Tighten the fastening at the head on the intake side with the prescribed torque.
* Diesel engine: replace the fuel filter.
* Gasoline engine: replace spark plugs (for engines manufactured from 9/94, only change every 45,000 km).
* Air conditioning system: check filling.
Gearbox, final drive
* Manual transmission: check and, if necessary, correct the oil level.
* Automatic transmission: check the oil level, lubricate the shift mechanism drive.
* Rear axle: check and if necessary correct the oil level.
* Vehicle with all-wheel drive: check the oil level in the transfer case and front axle final drive.
* Universal joint covers: check for leaks and damage.
Front axle and steering
* Tie Rod Ends: check for gaps and tightness, check dust caps.
* Ball joints, check dust caps.
* Steering: check bellows for leaks and damage.
* Power steering: check the fluid level in the compensation tank.
* Front and rear axle: Visually inspect axle parts for damage.
Body, interior
Replaceable cabin fine filter element: replace
Seat belts: Check for damage.
* Doors: check door stops, locking wedges / lock cams for correct operation and lubricate.
* Hood of the engine compartment / luggage compartment: check the correct operation and lubricate the locks.
* Anti-corrosion protection of the underbody: check.
* Air conditioning system: clean drains for condensed water.
Body: Check paintwork for damage.
Brakes, tires, wheels
Brake pads: Check the thickness of the brake pads.
Tire set: check tread height and tire pressure; check tires for wear and damage (including spare wheel).
* Brake system: Check lines, hoses, brake cylinders and connections for leaks and damage. Check brake fluid level.
* Wheel nuts: Tighten the wheel nuts to 100 Nm.
Electrical system
All current consumers: check operation.
Lighting system: check, if necessary, adjust the angle of the headlight beam.
Beep: check.
Wipers: Check the rubber bands on the wiper blades for wear.
* Window washer system: check the operation, check the correct position of the nozzles, top up the liquid level.
* Battery: check voltage and electrolyte level.
Body
Paintwork, anti-corrosion protection of the bottom, preservation of cavities: check and restore if necessary.
* Door hinges and locking strips: Lubricate.
* Seat belts: Check for damage, replace if necessary.
In addition, the following work must be done:
Every 3 years or 45.000 km
* Air filter: replace the replacement filter element (replace more frequently if dusty).
* Automatic transmission: adjust the brake band.
* ONS engine: Check intake air heating system.
* ONS engine: replace the crankcase ventilation valve.
Every 3 years
* Brake fluid: change.
* Coolant: replace.
Attention: The maintenance coolant replacement is not required if the cooling system was last filled with a mixture of FORD-Super Plus 4 antifreeze and water.
Every 90.000 km
* Petrol engines: replace the fuel filter.
