Checking ball joints for clearance

Raise the car on the goats in front.



Attach a suitable lever so that it rests on the inner edge of the wheel and on the lower part of the transverse lever.

Carefully push the lever up and check the clearance. The gap is the path of the lower part of the transverse arm before the transfer of motion to the pivot bearing.

The gap should not exceed 0.5 mm. If this dimension is exceeded, the worn ball joint must be replaced.

Lower the car.
