Vehicle identification

The engine number is stamped on the crankcase. For the ONS engine, the number is located, when viewed in the direction of travel, in front on the right next to the alternator. On a DOHC engine, it is on the left under the ignition distributor, and on a V6 engine, it is on the front left, under the cylinder head. On a diesel engine, the number is located at the front left above the high pressure fuel pump (injection pump).



The engine number -1- can be found on the rating plate located in the front of the engine compartment. The year and month of manufacture of the car are encoded in the chassis number -2- The chassis number is stamped on the underbody in front of the passenger seat next to the driver and is covered with a plastic cover. On SCORPIO vehicles manufactured since 1995, this number can also be read on the dashboard from the outside through the windshield.
