Removal and installation of the air filter (cars up to 8/94)

Carbureted engine

Withdrawal

Disconnect the air hose from the snorkel.

ONS engine: disconnect the red vacuum hose from the tee on the underside of the air filter.



Unscrew bolts -10- with washers and sealing washers -11- at the air cleaner cover. The figure shows the air filter of a DOHC carbureted engine.

Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose -6- from the cylinder head cover, to do this, first squeeze the ends of the clamp -12- with pliers and move it back.

Raise air filter slightly and detach vacuum hose -4- from carburetor.

Disconnect the air filter with a hose for supplying heated air from the carburetor.

Cover the carburetor inlet with a clean cloth.

Installation

Wipe the air filter housing with a clean cloth.


Connect the heated air hose to the exhaust manifold.

Remove a rag from the carburetor nozzle and attach the air filter.

Insert and tighten bolts with sealing and washer washers.

Connect a vacuum hose to the tee or respectively to the carburetor.

DOHC engine: connect the crankcase ventilation hose to the cylinder head cover and secure it with a clamp.

Connect the air hose to the snorkel and secure with a quick-release lock.

Turbo diesel engine and injection gasoline engine

Withdrawal

Loosen clamps and disconnect air hoses -A-. The picture shows a V6 engine.

Unplug electrical connector -B- for airflow meter.

Detach hose -C- for crankcase breather.



Release clips -arrows- and remove air cleaner cover.


Remove the air filter element.

If equipped, disconnect the EGR hose.



From the side of the wheel arch, unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the air filter housing from the engine compartment.

Installation

Wipe the air filter housing with a clean cloth.

Attach air filter housing and screw down from wheel arch side.

If equipped, connect the EGR hose.

Insert the air filter element, attach the filter housing cover and fasten with clips.

Connect the crankcase ventilation hose.

Connect the plug connector of the volumetric air flow meter.

Connect air hoses and secure with clamps.

Naturally aspirated diesel engine

Withdrawal

Loosen the 4 nuts and remove the air filter cover. And - bolts of fastening of the case of the air filter; V-hose.


Remove the air filter element.

Remove the mounting bolts and remove the air filter housing.

Close the inlet with a clean cloth.

Installation

Wipe the air filter housing with a clean cloth.

Remove the rag from the inlet and attach the air filter housing.

Insert and tighten bolts with washers.

Insert the air filter element, attach the filter housing cover and tighten the fastening nuts.
