Withdrawal
Unplug electrical connector -4- for air mass meter.
Detach intake pipe -5- towards front.
Petrol engine: unfasten 2 rubber loops -6-.
Diesel engine: remove the left front wheel arch trim, see p. 131.
Diesel engine: On the wheel arch side, unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the air filter housing from the engine compartment.
Loosen clamp -2- for intake pipe and 2 clips -1-. 4 - plug connector of the mass air flow meter. The figure shows an engine with a displacement of 2.3 liters.
Unplug electrical connector -5- for temperature sensor.
Remove the resonator -3- from the pin holders upwards against the direction of the arrow and remove the pipe.
Petrol engine: release the clamp and disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose from the air filter housing.
Remove the air filter housing.
Installation
Diesel engine, attach air cleaner housing and tighten bolts on wheel arch side. Install wheel arch trim see p. 131.
Attach the inlet pipe and attach with a clamp to the inlet pipe and clamps to the air filter housing.
Connect the plug connectors of the mass air flow meter and the temperature sensor. Connectors must be secured with clips.
Petrol engine, attach 2 rubber loops to the air filter housing.
Connect the crankcase ventilation hose to the air filter housing and secure it with a clamp.
