Safety and cleanliness when working on fuel systems

            0

When working on the fuel supply systems, the following safety and cleanliness regulations must be strictly observed.

Safety instructions

No open flames, no smoking, no incandescent or very hot objects near the workplace. Danger of accident! Prepare a fire extinguisher.

Ensure good ventilation of the workplace. Fuel vapors are poisonous.

The fuel supply system is under pressure. When opening the system, splashing of fuel is possible; collect spilled fuel with a rag. Wear safety glasses.

Thoroughly clean the joints and places near these joints before loosening the fasteners.

Lay the removed parts on a clean base and cover with foil or paper. Do not use fluffy cloths for this!

Exposed parts should be carefully covered or locked up unless urgent repairs are being carried out.

Install only clean parts.

Remove spare parts from the packaging only immediately before installation.

Do not use parts that have been stored unpacked (for example, in a tool box, etc.).

With an open supply system, if possible, do not work with compressed air. If possible, do not move the car.

Do not use any silicone based sealants. Particles containing silicone sucked in by the engine do not burn and cause damage to the oxygen sensor.

Do not allow diesel fuel to get on the cooling system hoses, as the hoses then become unusable. If diesel fuel gets in, wipe the hoses immediately with a damp cloth.
