Withdrawal
Disconnect ground wire (-) battery.
Caution: Disconnecting the battery will erase the contents of the electronic memories, such as engine trouble codes or radio codes. Before switching off, also read the instructions in chapter "Removing and installing the battery".
Disconnect the multi-pin connector at the distributor by pressing in the wire clamp -arrow-.
Attention: When doing this, pull on the plug, not on the wire.
Engine with a displacement of 2.8 liters: using a felt-tip pen or marker, draw a through mark along the base of the ignition distributor and crankcase. Loosen the mounting bolt and turn the ignition distributor so that access to the control unit mounting bolts is provided.
Unscrew securing bolts -arrows- for control unit.
Carefully remove the control unit from the ignition distributor in a downward motion.
Installation
Apply heat protection grease to the back of the control box.
From below, insert the control unit into the housing of the ignition distributor.
Attention: Insert the control unit carefully so as not to damage the contacts.
Insert and tighten the mounting bolts.
Engine with a working volume of 2.8 l: set the ignition distributor according to the marked marks to the installation position and tighten the mounting bolt.
Connect the multi-pin connector at the ignition distributor.
Attention: The wire clamp must secure the connector.
Connect ground wire to battery (-).
If available, set the clock and enter the anti-theft code for the radio.
Engine with a displacement of 2.8 liters: check the ignition timing.
