C type gearbox
3-4 gear synchronizer hub
Since January 1983 (production date code "DC") Type C manual transmissions use new type 3-4 gear synchronizer hubs. This change was introduced to eliminate vibrations of the synchronizer ring that occur in a non-engineered synchronizer. The introduced change does not affect the method of disassembly and assembly of the gearbox, given in subsection 6.1.5.
Rear crankcase mount
Since March 1983 (production date code "DD") The rear crankcase of the Type C gearbox is secured with Torx head bolts.
In the process of unscrewing and tightening these bolts, it is imperative to use the appropriate tools (Torx E12) adapted to the heads of these bolts. Using the wrong tool will damage the bolt head.
Further information regarding the technical specification, adjustment and repair of a mechanical four-speed gearbox is given in subsection 6.1.
