Installation of a new intermediate shaft needle bearing for a manual 5-speed gearbox
A - distance rings,
B - bearing needles
Intermediate shaft bearings
Since May 1983 (production date code "DL") a new solution for placing the intermediate shaft in the bearings has been introduced in all five-speed gearboxes. Changed the length of the bearing needles to 25.75 mm (before 33 mm).
When replacing needle bearings in gearboxes of an earlier date of manufacture, new bearings can be used, but two additional bearings must be installed (not applicable in the new solution) distance rings with factory designation 839 E-7125-AA-6094966.
Attention! Two additional rings should be placed behind the bearing.
Further information regarding the technical specification, adjustment and repair of a five-speed manual gearbox is given in subsection 6.2.
