Disc Brake Caliper Bracket Identification

A - old type holder,
B - a new type of holder

Brake disc mount

Since August 1983 (production date code "DT") removed the screw securing the brake disc to the wheel hub.

The brake disc is connected to the wheel hub using a spring clip on the wheel bolt, identical to that used on the rear brake drums.

Attention! In connection with this change, in cars manufactured since August 1983, in the process of removing the brake disc, mark the relative position of the brake disc and wheel hub with a scriber so that the original location of the brake disc relative to the hub can be maintained during installation. Otherwise, the brake disc may have excessive runout.

Stopping support

Since May 1983 (production date code "DL") vehicles manufactured in Genk, and since June 1983 (production date code "DY") also cars made in Dagen-ham and Cork are equipped with caliper brackets (see fig. Disc Brake Caliper Bracket Identification) and calipers of a new type, as well as brake pads with gaskets that eliminate vibrations. The introduced changes do not change the order of disassembly and assembly of the brakes and the method of replacing the brake pads, described in subsection 10.2.

Brake fluid

The new Ford SAM 6 C 9103 A brake fluid has been systematically introduced. The new brake fluid can be used to replenish the amount of fluid previously used. When replacing, use new brake fluid.

Further information regarding the technical characteristics, adjustment and repair of the brake system is given in section 10.
