Crank mechanism
Pistons
Since February 1987 (code 7B02) in engines ONS 1.6 dm3 and from September 1986 (code 6J15) in ONS 2.0 dm3 engines, the displacement of the piston pin axis relative to the piston axis has been reduced from 0.8 mm to 0.6 mm. New pistons cannot be installed with old connecting rods and vice versa.
Fuel system
From May 1987 code (production date code "HL") some adjusting data of two-chamber Weber carburetors designed for ONS 2.0 dm3 engines have been changed - the deviation of the air damper at the start of the vacuum regulator in all Weber 85 HF carburetors is 8 mm.
Since January 1988 (production date code "JB") in engines with gasoline injection, a new type of air duct is installed.
Since May 1988, cars with the 1.8 dm3 ONS engine have been equipped with a new Pierburg carburetor with the designation 85 HF 9510 KS. Its distinguishing feature is the yellow dot on the enrichment device valve.

Since July 1988 (production date code "JG") Ons 1.6 dm3 engines use a new type 84 HF 9510 DB carburetor with a solenoid valve that cuts off the fuel supply after the ignition is turned off to prevent self-ignition.
Carburetor adjustment data 84 HF 9510 DB
Idling speed: 875±20 rpm.
CO content: 1%.
The rest of the adjustment data is the same as in the two-chamber Weber 84 HF 9510 CA carburetor.
The rest of the information regarding the technical characteristics, adjustment and repair of ONS engines is located in subsection 4.1 and subsection 3.1.3.1.
