Attention! This section applies to gearboxes of all types.
Withdrawal
1. Place the car above the viewing channel or raise it on a lift.
2. Disconnect ground wire from battery.
3. Unscrew the gear lever knob.
4. Take off (depending on hardware version) center console or shelf near the gear lever.
5. Remove the outer casing of the gear lever after detaching it from the holder, as well as the inner casing together with the holder after unscrewing the holder frame from the floor tunnel.
6. Disconnect the shift lever from the rear of the gearbox housing.
7. Raise the car.
8. Disconnect the stabilizer from the side member.
9. Disconnect the rubber suspension elements from the mounting brackets of the rear part of the exhaust system and fix the entire system in such a way that it does not load the mounting of its front part.
10. Unscrew the mount of the middle bearing of the cardan shaft, and also unscrew the mounts of the cardan shaft to the flange of the final drive drive shaft, near the rear axle.
11. Remove the front part of the driveshaft from the rear case of the gearbox and plug the hole in the rear of the case with a suitable plug to prevent oil from escaping from the gearbox.
12. Using a jack, support the gearbox over wooden blocks.
13. Unscrew the transaxle securing the gearbox to the body.
14. Remove the spring hook securing the speedometer drive cable and disconnect the cable from the gearbox.
15. Disconnect the electrical wire from the reversing light switch.
16. Remove starter.
17. Disconnect the clutch cable from the release forks.
18. Unscrew the bolts securing the gearbox to the cross member.
19. Remove the reaction arm of the engine-gearbox assembly.
20. Disconnect the gearbox from the engine and carefully remove the gearbox from under the vehicle.
Installation
1. Coat the input shaft splines with a small amount of grease.
2. The gearbox is installed in the reverse order to the removal process.
3. After installation, check the oil level in the gearbox.
