Removal and installation of a brake pedal

Withdrawal

1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

2. Remove the sub-dashboard and pull out the brake light switch electrical connector.

3. Disconnect the brake pedal from the brake booster push rod by removing the retaining clip and washer and pulling the rod off the pedal pin.

4. Remove the nut and pivot bolt from the top of the pedal.

5. Now you can remove the brake pedal, intermediate ring and bushing from the bracket.

Installation

6. Use new bushings; Lubricate the bushings, intermediate ring, bolt and all friction parts with a thin layer of engine oil.

7. Replace the pedal, bushings and intermediate ring, install the pivot bolt. Remember that the bolt head must be on the right side of the bracket.

8. Tighten a nut and connect draft of the amplifier and the switch of light signals of a brake to a pedal.

9. Press the brake pedal several times to make sure it works properly.

10. Connect the wiring to the brake light switch, install the sub-dash panel cover.
