Warning: If suspension or steering fasteners are lost or unscrewed, they should be replaced with new ones, do not reuse them. Fasteners are replaced with new ones of the same design quality and markings.
Note: This procedure will require two floor jacks.
Withdrawal
1. Loosen the nuts securing both front wheels. Raise the front of the vehicle and place it securely on jack stands under the cross frame. Remove the front wheels.
2. Disconnect the linkage of the stabilizer from the post and from the rod itself (see picture). If you are only removing one stabilizer bar, or if the linkage is intact, there is no need to detach it from the strut bracket.
3. Unscrew the nuts securing the steering gear to the transverse frame and lift the steering gear up from the frame (see section 26).
4. Place a floor jack under each side at the rear of the cross frame. Remove the two rear cross frame bolts and slowly lower the jacks little by little until the bolts on the stabilizer bracket are accessible (see picture).
5. Remove the stabilizer bracket bolts and remove the U-brackets from the bushings. Now, if desired, you can also remove the bushings from the stabilizer without removing the latter from the car. If it is necessary to remove the bar, carefully slide it out between the cross frame and the body.
Installation
6. Clean the stabilizer bar in the area where the bushings move. Place the bar on the transverse frame and put on the bushings in the places where they should approximately be located.
7. Place the U-brackets over the insulation, screw in the bolts and tighten them securely.
8. Raise the cross frame until it touches the floor, then install the cross frame bolts and torque to specification.
9. Connect stabilizer link to strut bracket (if it was completely removed) and to the rod itself Tighten the nuts properly.
10. Install the wheels. Lower the vehicle and tighten the nuts to the correct torque.
