Starting system — general information

            0

The starting system cranks the engine over to start it. It includes motor and starter relay, battery switch, connecting wires.

On automatic transmission vehicles, there is a neutral switch position in the starter control circuit that prevents the starter from engaging unless the shift lever is in the "neutral" or "parking".

On manual transmission vehicles, an electrical circuit prevents the starter motor from being started until the clutch pedal is depressed. The duration of the starter should not exceed 30 seconds. after which it is necessary to make at least a two-minute pause so that it cools down. Overloading the starter can cause it to overheat and, as a result, fail.
