Oil pump — removal and installation

Withdrawal

1. Remove the oil pan see section 12.

2. Turn off bolts of fastening of the oil pump and remove the oil pump with an intermediate wire shaft.

Installation

3. Prime the oil pump by filling it with engine oil through the inlet. Rotate the pump shaft until oil flows through the outlet port.

4. Insert the intermediate drive shaft into the oil pump. Mount the pump and drive shaft as a single unit.

Caution: Do not attempt to push the pump if it does not click into place. The alignment of the drive and camshafts may be broken. To align the end of the drive shaft with the distributor head, remove the oil pump and rotate the intermediate drive shaft a few degrees, then repeat.

5. Tighten the two oil pump mounting bolts to specification.

6. Install the oil pan according to section 12.

7. Fill the crankcase to the required level with the recommended engine oil (if necessary see chapter 1).

8. Run the engine at high speed and check for any oil leaks.
