Warning: in these models of vehicles, the electric fan may operate with the ignition off. When working in the fan area, turn off its motor or disconnect the battery negative cable.
Warning: Do not work under a vehicle that is supported by only one jack. Always use coasters.
1. Start the engine, let it warm up to operating temperature - in this case, the oil and soot will come out more easily.
2. Remove the cap from the oil filler neck of the valve train.
3. Raise the vehicle and place it on stands. Make sure it is secure.
4. Install an oil pan under the bottom of the engine under the plug, then unscrew the plug. The last few turns of the plug are best done with some old glove on your hand so as not to scald yourself with hot oil.
5. Check used oil for metal particles.
6. After all the oil has drained, wipe the plug with a clean rag. Clean the area around the plug hole, screw the plug into place and tighten.
7. Move the oil pan under the oil filter, which is located on the front (from the side of the radiator) motor parts.
8. Loosen the oil filter by turning it counterclockwise. Unscrew the loose filter by hand.
9. Wipe the connecting surface on the unit with a clean rag. Make sure that there are no particles of the old gasket on it. If necessary, they must be scraped off with a copper scraper.
10. Lubricate the rubber gasket on the new filter with engine oil. Then screw it into place by hand.
Warning: Do not use a wrench when screwing in the filter.
11. Lower the car. Pour fresh oil through the oil filler neck in the valve cover. Fill the engine with 3.8 liters (4 quarts) fresh oil. Wait a few minutes for the oil to flow into the container, then measure its level. If the oil level is low, add more.
12. Screw on the oil filler cap.
13. Start the engine and let it run for about a minute. While it is running, look under the car and check for oil leaks from the oil pan plug or around the oil filter.
14. Wait a few minutes after turning off the engine, then recheck the level with the dipstick. Add oil if necessary.
